Behind the Design
Contrast Culture Sauna & Cold Plunge was envisioned as more than a place for recovery—it was designed to feel like an escape. When I joined the project, the goal was to transform a commercial shell into an immersive wellness destination where every design decision contributed to a calming, restorative atmosphere while encouraging connection through shared experiences.
A defining feature of the design is the extensive use of greenery throughout the space. From the suspended canopy of cascading vines overhead to custom plant walls and thoughtfully layered botanical elements, every installation was carefully planned to soften the architecture, add warmth, and create a stronger connection to nature. This immersive approach required careful coordination and attention to detail, ultimately becoming one of the spa’s signature design elements.
Complementing the greenery, carefully selected materials, custom millwork, architectural wall features, lighting, locker areas, wellness spaces, and reception details were thoughtfully integrated to create a cohesive guest experience from arrival to departure. The finished space balances beauty, functionality, and durability while reflecting Contrast Culture’s unique identity and commitment to wellness, leaving a lasting impression on every guest.
